HISTORY
Lighthouse Mission
General Baptist Church of Boonville, Indiana would like to
announce a successful beginning. Our goal was to begin a Church
in unity so that we might become a Lighthouse or a beacon of
light to this community and it’s surrounding areas. We began
with 32 chartering members including our Pastor, Rev. Jeff
Bullock, and his wife Brenda Bullock, three Deacons and a
remarkable congregation. We let our light shine on September 9th,
2007,
our first Sunday morning service, with 38 people attending.
Expecting our endeavor into the uncharted territory of beginning
our own Church to be a tough, rocky road we had no idea the size
of the blessing we were about to receive. God was very much on
our side! Doors began to open where we least expected and things
seemed to fall so easily into place.
The first order of business was a building. Where
were 30 plus people going to worship all together?! We searched
high and low and finally found a historical Church set upon a
local parks land. The old Fletcher Chapel at Thresherman Park
would be our path to a place to hold our services. Shortly after
meeting with the board of directors of the park we found
ourselves with a building for worship! From that moment forward
several sizable donations were made, we became Incorporated,
held our first business meeting, elected our Church Officials
and soon our very small Church had begun to grow!
We are happy to report that we now not only have the
Sunday morning worship, but a Sunday evening worship service and
a Wednesday night Bible study. We also have begun a Children’s
Ministry with Sunday school and Wednesday Evening services open
to the children of the community. Our Visitation Ministry is
well on its way and we have met with and discussed entry into
Freedom Association, we are very excited to see the results of
this in the spring. Lighthouse Mission General Baptist Church is
looking forward to our very first Advent, Christmas and a
wonderful year of “first’s” in unity with our brothers and
sisters in Christ and Jesus there by our side the whole way
through!
